30m Match Crossbow World Cup Sezemice (CZE) - A Success Story

It started all at a round table after a shooting competition in Strasbourg.

We examined possibilities of offering Match Crossbow shooters the optimal amount of starts in the 30m discipline, fitting to the international and national calendars the best possible way. The usual candidates like France, Switzerland, Germany took turns and checked availability of ranges and dates, like years before, for the 2025 series of World Cups.

Then, out of sudden, a voice said: We will do it.

The representative of Czech Republic committed to host a Match Crossbow event for the first time in that country, at a range in Sezemice, that was used previously for local ISSF competitions. In a time of a few months, the range was transformed to a full-sized 30m range able to host IAU 30m competitions at the highest level.

Two competitions of the 30m World Cup series were shot and the participants leave home with medals and nice memories of a new home of the crossbow shooting sport.

Day One: Gone with the Wind

The relay in standing position was, one would say, business as usual. But with time, the wind from changing directions took over and made the shooters aim and shoot with more and more care - till the last minute. The podium shows the best shooters which were able to cope with the challenging conditions:

  • 1st place and Gold - Joëlle Baumgartner (SUI) - 568 points
  • 2nd place and Silver - Joël Brüschweiler (SUI) - 565 points
  • 3rd place and Bronze - Sandra Reimann (GER) - 564 points

Day Two: Range Shows Full Potential

The morning and mild sunny weather over Sezemice started with the second competition. Wind was tired from the previous day and all that summed up to promising shooting conditions. Results were at high level this day, with the two leaders confirming the placement from Friday. Bronze changed from Germany to Switzerland on this day.

  • 1st place and Gold - Joëlle Baumgartner (SUI) - 578 points
  • 2nd place and Silver - Joël Brüschweiler (SUI) - 577 points
  • 3rd place and Bronze - Stephan Loretz (SUI) - 566 points

Joël Brüschweiler delivered the ultimate proof of suitability of the range to highest level of results by equalising the men's kneeling world record of 296 points.

The series of Match Crossbow World Cups continues in September in Strasbourg with two 30m and one 10m competitions.
